International Women’s Day was celebrated on Sunday March 8th, 2020. We the students, staff and teachers at Yorkland High School joined other schools in our community as we commemorated this occasion by holding an assembly this morning, we all chose to wear something purple. This year’s theme was ‘I am Generation Equality: Realizing Women’s Rights. The theme is aligned with the UN Women’s New Multigenerational Campaign, Generation Equality.
Purple, is the internationally recognized colour to symbolize women and it is used to celebrate International Women’s Day, the global day celebrating the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women.
We are a school culture that prides ourselves on inclusion and a positive balanced environment for learning and working.
Please take a moment to look at some of the pictures from our International Women’s Day Assembly. We are a school community practicing kindness, gratitude and inclusion for all.
